Cat’s Married? To answer the question that many have asked - NO, I’m not married!! I’ve confused many people with announcing that I was getting married on July 16th & now that the 16th has passed & I have a day to breathe, I guess I’ll break it down LOL Moving back home also including my obtaining a position with my old job, The City of Oakland Parks & Recreation in the Central Reservations Unit (previously worked in Sports, still do but not like before). CRU is in charge of different facilities that the City has - many of which are rented out for weddings, parties, etc. July is National Parks & Rec month & every day of the Month the City of Oakland has a different event for each department and/or Rec Center - MY department has 2 different weekends to host a Splendor Tour where we set up an Open House from 1-3 and invite local vendors (catering companies, bakers, photographers, decorators, etc) to come out & network with out Clients & the Community - pretty much anyone with a business that caters to our clients in hopes that they can provide future services for them when renting one of our facilities; free advertisement with the City. We also will add the vendors on our internal referral list, as well as a referral list for future clients whom which are seeking services.  Being the creative person that I am, I suggested a mock wedding take place at the garden center & gardens around Lake Merritt. People are married there all of the time & with us using the sailboat house as a wedding reception, we used the full grounds. The turn out was GREAT! The vendors did an amazing job. I rented a dress from a lady who has been in business for 50 years (Margene’s Bridal) & she was so nice. The Groom is my Sports supervisor and very good friend, Fred Morris - he is also a high school Hoop Coach. He enjoyed himself & was a GREAT sport!  Next week another Open House will take place & I’m certain my co-worker will make it a huge hit as well. I’ll be at the Jazz Festival at Dunsmiur & will miss out. We will be selling tickets to our All White Party being held on the 29th. Oh & August 2nd, I’m hosting a block party at Lake Merritt for National Night Out and I’m getting some GREAT people involved! It should be fun!! I love being back at OPR!! :)
